A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows mainly in coastal saline or brackish water💦. They grow in an equatorial climate along coastlines and tidal rivers🏝️. They can tolerate conditions that would kill most of the plants - they have special adaptations to take in extra oxygen and remove salt!

Mangroves protect nearby areas by reducing erosion and absorbing storm surges during storms like hurricanes🌪. They also support the ecosystem by binding and building soils with their dense roots. They protect shorelines from erosion and storm damage, support marine life🐬, and store carbon, helping to reduce climate change!!
