A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows mainly in coastal saline or brackish water๐Ÿ’ฆ. They grow in an equatorial climate along coastlines and tidal rivers๐Ÿ๏ธ. They can tolerate conditions that would kill most of the plants - they have special adaptations to take in extra oxygen and remove salt!

Mangroves protect nearby areas by reducing erosion and absorbing storm surges during storms like hurricanes๐ŸŒช. They also support the ecosystem by binding and building soils with their dense roots. They protect shorelines from erosion and storm damage, support marine life๐Ÿฌ, and store carbon, helping to reduce climate change!!
