Deforestation
Deforestation refers to the large-scale cutting down of trees for agriculture, industries, roads, and housing. Forests are essential for maintaining ecological balance as they provide oxygen, control climate, prevent soil erosion, and support wildlife. When forests are destroyed, many species lose their habitat and face extinction. Deforestation also increases carbon dioxide levels, contributing to global warming. To stop deforestation, forests must be protected, illegal logging should be banned, and large-scale tree plantation programs should be encouraged.
