In a quiet valley, nestled beside a green forest, there lived a girl named Leela. She spent her days among the trees, caring for the plants and watching the birds. She would always say, "Trees give us air! Trees give us shelter! Trees are life!"
However, the people of her village were cutting down trees without a second thought. They used the wood for fuel and cleared land to build houses, never replanting a single sapling. Leela tried to warn everyone, telling them that the forest protected their village, but no one paid any attention to the little girl’s words. She even showed them how to use fallen branches and plant new trees, but the villagers were too busy to care.
Months passed. One day, after a heavy rain, the villagers woke up to a terrible sight. A flash flood rushed down from the barren hillside where the forest used to be, washing away their crops and damaging their homes. The ground was now bare and muddy, and the wind blew dust into every corner of the village. The protective wall of trees was gone, and their village was exposed to the harsh weather.
Finally, the villagers approached Leela. They were sorry for not listening to her and for carelessly destroying the forest. Leela said, "It's good that you all admit your mistake. I have saved many seeds from the forest. We can plant them together and bring the trees back." The villagers thanked Leela and promised never to cut down a tree without planting two more.
Luckily for the villagers, they had a mild spring, and the seeds began to sprout. The villagers worked together, caring for each tiny sapling. Their new forest began to grow, and with it, the soil became firm again. Everyone in the village beamed with joy! The villagers had learned their lesson and the true importance of trees. From then onwards, the villagers not only used wood responsibly but also worked towards planting new trees for their children and their children's children.
