What Is Blue Earth?
“Blue Earth” is a nickname for our planet because over 70% of its surface is covered in water. When seen from space, Earth looks blue because of the oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes. Water is what makes life possible here—no other planet has as much water as Earth.
But not all water is safe to drink. Only a small amount is freshwater that we can use. The rest is salty ocean water. That’s why we must protect our water from pollution and waste. A clean, blue Earth means a healthier world for all living things.
