Menar is a village near Udaipur in Rajasthan. It's often called the "Peacock Paradise" due to its large peacock population. The village is also known as a haven for migratory birds, the beautiful Menar Lake and its rich culture.

Being a spectacular place for Birdwatching, Menar Lake is a popular destination for birdwatchers, attracting various resident and migratory bird species. 

Menar has implemented several rules and practices to support the birds. These include prohibiting hunting and fishing and actively managing the wetland ecosystem. The community, known as "Pakshi Mitras" (friends of birds), patrols the areas and rescues injured birds The villagers also stopped using lake water for irrigation. 
 
There are over 62 aquatic bird species have been reported in its wetlands, with the total exceeding 100 when including terrestrial birds. The area is particularly known for migratory birds like white tailed lapwings, bar-headed geese and pelicans.
 
Additionally, Menar has a rich cultural heritage in form historic temples, narrow lanes, and traditional havelis. It has a fascinating history, with connections to the land of Maharana Pratap and Mira Bai.
