The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated annually on December 3 to: 

Promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities

Raise awareness of the situation of people with disabilities

Mobilize support for the inclusion of people with disabilities

Draw attention to the benefits of an inclusive and accessible society

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the IDPD in 1992. The World Health Organization (WHO) also joins the UN in observing the day. 

The theme for the 2024 IDPD is "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future".
