Tata's legacy is one of transformative leadership marked by significant achievements in business and philanthropy.

 

Ratan Naval Tata was born on December 28, 1937, in Bombay, now Mumbai, into the famed Tata family, one of India’s most famous commercial families. He was adopted by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata after his parents separated in 1948.

 

He obtained a degree in architecture from Cornell University, followed by a management program at Harvard Business School.

 

In 1988 he launched his first car "Indica", due to low sales he decided to sell the production unit to FORD 

 

He was humiliated by BILL FORD for the low sales.

Sir Ratan then decided not to sell the production unit.

 

9 years later FORD went bankrupt 

 

and Mr Tata stepped in by acquiring jaguar and land rover cars from FORD.

 

In spite of criticism, he created the affordable car Nano by prioritising ethics over profit. 

 

some famous tata owned brands are - Starbucks, west side , Air India,Zara,Zudio, Taj Hotels , Jaguar land rover Tata steels, Tata motors etc.

Ever since, he has been playing a prominent part in education and health.

He has donated more than $102.4 billion.

Tata company also runs several NGOs like - SIR RATAN TATA TRUST(SRTT), RD TATA TRUST , TAT SOCIAL WELFARE TRUST AND TATA EDUCATION TRUST , JAN SWASTHYA SAHYOG(JSS), ANTARA FOUNDATION etc.

 

Ratan Tata's life was rich with lessons in compassion, resilience, humility, and perseverance, making him a model of integrity, particularly for those aspiring to public service.
