The holy basil plant, also known as Tulsi, is revered in Hinduism as a manifestation of the goddess Lakshmi. It is especially sacred to Vaishnavites (devotees of Vishnu), and Lord Krishna is said to wear a garland of holy basil leaves and flowers around his neck. In addition to its spiritual significance, tulsi has practical value and is considered a symbol of wisdom in Ayurvedic medicine
