Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth’s climate system observed since the pre-industrial period.

The average global temperature has increased by about 1.1 degrees Celsius (2 degrees Fahrenheit) since 1850, with most of the warming occurring in the past 40 years. The main cause of global warming is the human expansion of the greenhouse effect. Human activities have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat, causing the planet’s average surface temperature to rise.

The effects of global warming are already being felt around the world. These include rising sea levels, more extreme weather events, such as heatwaves, floods, and droughts, and changes in precipitation patterns. Global warming is also having a significant impact on plant and animal life. Many species are struggling to adapt to the changing climate, and some are facing extinction.

The effects of global warming are expected to become more severe in the future. It is important to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
