World Day Against Child Labour is marked every year on 12 June. The day aims to raise awareness about the exploitation of children who are engaged in child labour. Children are either being put as labourers even if they're too young to be one or made to take part in hazardous activities that may have an impact on their physical, social, mental or educational development.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) started observing World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 to highlight the plight of children who are the victims of child labour. The theme for this year is "Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour". The theme focuses on increased investment in social protection schemes and systems to develop solid social protection mechanisms for protection from child labour.

There are a variety of event types to make the celebration enjoyable and memorable:

• Video Creator: There is no limit to creativity these days, you can make a creative video of yourself on the theme of the given activity and use the hashtag #Creator

• Dance Champs: Dance brings in a festive mood and enthusiasm among us as well as spectators. You can make a fun and inspirational dance video and use the hashtag #Dancer

• Artists: This is yet another activity where you can showcase your art and craft work by using the hashtag #Artist

• Techno Geek: This is the way that is both fun and informative. Display your creative skills, especially with the availability of technology using the hashtag #Techguru

• Just a min: Make a one-minute speaking video to motivate others through your words related to sustainable development goals. Use the hashtag #Speaker

• Sustainability superstars: We are encouraging our youth to work towards achieving sustainable goals, you can share your good work here and create an impact.

To spread awareness against child labour, Go Sharpener came up with an activity to spot child labourers in your locality & teach a life skill to him/her and upload a video of the same.

To stop the practice of child labour , society as a whole as well as the government must work together. Every citizen should promise never to use child labour and to actively dissuade others from doing the same. We need to raise awareness among those who use child labour and among parents who send their kids to work. In order for our kids to have the finest time of their lives with a carefree attitude, we need to provide them a joyful childhood.
