When we look up at the night sky, we see countless stars and planets, and it’s natural to wonder if life exists elsewhere, but so far, Earth remains the only known planet that supports life, making it incredibly special. It has a perfect balance that allows living beings to survive, as it is located at just the right distance from the Sun—not too hot and not too cold—often called the “Goldilocks zone.” Earth’s atmosphere acts as a protective shield, providing oxygen to breathe and protecting us from harmful radiation, while water, which covers about 71% of the planet, is essential for all living organisms and is found here in abundance unlike anywhere else we know. The planet is also rich in biodiversity, with millions of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms that maintain ecological balance and make life possible. However, despite all these advantages, Earth is facing serious threats such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and overuse of resources, which can disturb this delicate balance. We celebrate 'World Earth Day' on 22 April every year. This is so important, as this reminds people across the globe to take action by planting trees, reducing waste, and spreading awareness about protecting the environment. Ultimately, Earth does not need us, but we depend entirely on it, and it is our responsibility to protect and preserve this beautiful planet, because it is not just our home—it is truly the one and only place to live.
