Earth is our home. It is the third planet from the Sun and the only known planet to support life. It's called the "Blue Planet" because over 70% of its surface is covered in water. Earth has a vital atmosphere that provides air to breathe and protects us from harmful radiation. It rotates on its axis, causing day and night, and revolves around the Sun, defining our year. The Moon is Earth's natural satellite, influencing tides and stabilizing its axis. Its tilted axis is responsible for the changing seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter). Earth is a rocky planet, the largest and densest of the inner planets in our solar system. It provides land, air, water, and food, sustaining countless plants, animals, and humans. The name "Earth" comes from Old English and Germanic words meaning "the ground". We must protect our home planet from pollution and conserve its resources for the future.
