A small poem by me on what trees would say if they could talk.
If Trees Could Talk
If trees could talk, they would say,
You use us up in every way.
You cut us down and break our stems,
Don’t understand we’re precious like gems.
Lived for a long time, saw generations change,
But you all were always strange.
Chewed us like a final bite,
Still, we never picked a fight.
You call us your best friend,
But turned out to be the reason for our end.
So before our roots turn cold and dry,
Look us in the eye — don’t pass us by.
We don’t ask for much — just let us grow,
For your tomorrow is the shade we sow.
To help you, we are bound...
Save us, before silence becomes our only sound.
