🌳 Van Mahotsav – The Festival of Forests

🌱 What is it about?

Van Mahotsav is a week-long celebration across India that promotes tree planting and forest conservation. It encourages everyone—especially youth—to connect with nature and take responsibility for protecting it.


Why is it important?

🌲 Trees purify the air and give us oxygen
🌧️ Help maintain the water cycle and bring rainfall
🐿️ Provide shelter and food to wildlife
🌍 Fight climate change and global warming
⚠️ Forests are vanishing due to urbanization and deforestation—we must act now!

K.M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture, started Van Mahotsav in 1950 to restore India’s green cover.
