Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads. And hang the clothes on ropes and let them dry in the sun insted of using a dryer -

During the day, open curtains to let in natural light instead of using electric lights. Also open windows to cool down rooms naturally instead of relying heavily on air conditioning.
