Hi everyone!
I’m an 8th-grade student, and I recently learned about SDG 12 and 13: two significant goals set by the United Nations. SDG 12 focuses on using resources responsibly without wasting them, while SDG 13 addresses the fight against climate change. It sounds serious, but guess what? We can make a difference! Even small actions can help save our Earth.
Here are a few things I’m doing (and you can too!):
1. Save Water: I turn off the tap while brushing my teeth. Sounds simple, right? But it saves a lot of water! I also reuse water used to wash vegetables for watering plants.
2. Reduce Plastic Use: I carry my own water bottle and cloth bag. I avoid buying snacks in plastic packets and say no to plastic straws. Plastic harms animals and takes years to disappear!
3. Learn About Climate Change: I watched videos and read books to understand how our planet is heating up. That’s climate change. I also talk about it with my friends so they know how to help too!
4. Plant Trees and Flowers: I planted air-purifying plants in my balcony. It’s like helping nature while having fun!
5. Community Clean-Up: Last month, I joined a clean-up in our park with my mother. We collected trash and felt really proud. You should try it. It brings everyone together!
6. Use Energy Wisely: I switch off lights and fans when I leave the room. I don’t keep chargers plugged in all day. Using less electricity means we burn less fuel and pollute air less.
7. Save Energy: We started using solar lamps at home. Hence, I bought a solar panel to use for small savings on electricity. They charge in sunlight and work well at night. It’s fun and super cool to use the power of the sun!
In the End…
I may be just 13, but I believe every action counts. We don’t have to do big things; we just need to care and start somewhere. If all of us do our part, the Earth will become cleaner, greener, and happier. 🌎💚
Let’s protect our future, one small habit at a time!
Will you join me?
