Climate change means the Earth’s usual weather patterns are changing. This is mostly caused by humans burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas for electricity, cars, and factories. When we do this, we release a gas called carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the air. This gas traps heat, like a blanket around the planet — this is called the green house effect.
What climate change does to us-
Hotter Temperatures
Many places are getting warmer than ever before leading to heat waves which can be extremely dangerous
2.
Stronger Storms and Floods
More heat means more water in the air, which causes stronger hurricanes, heavy rain, and floods. Homes and schools can be damaged.
3.
Melting Ice and Rising Seas
Ice in the Arctic and Antarctica is melting.
- This makes sea levels rise, which can flood beaches, cities, and islands.
4.
Wildfires
Dry, hot weather makes it easier for forest fires to start and spread.
- These fires destroy trees, animals’ homes, and even people’s houses.
5.
Harming Animals and Plants
Many animals are losing their homes because their habitats are too hot or disappearing.
- Coral reefs are dying because ocean water is getting too warm and acidic.
6.
Less Food and Water
Crops can dry out or flood, making it harder to grow food.
- Droughts mean less clean water for people, animals, and plants.
7.
Health Problems
More people are getting sick from heat, dirty air, or spreading diseases like malaria and dengue fever.
What we can do-
🌞 Use less electricity — turn off lights when not in use.
- 🚲 Walk or ride a bike instead of asking for a car ride.
- ♻️ Recycle and use reusable bags and bottles.
- 🌳 Plant trees or support tree-planting programs.
- Talk to friends and family about why protecting the Earth is important.
