Every year on June 5th, people around the world celebrate World Environment Day. It’s a special day to learn about our environment and to take action to protect it. The environment includes everything around us — the trees, air, water, animals, and even us, humans!
We celebrate World Environment Day to remind ourselves how important nature is in our lives. Clean air, fresh water, green plants, and animals all play a big role in keeping the Earth healthy. But today, pollution, deforestation, plastic waste, and climate change are hurting our planet.
If we don’t take care of the environment, it can lead to problems like dirty air, unsafe drinking water, extreme weather, and loss of wildlife.
What Can We Do to Help?
Even small changes can make a big difference. Here are some simple things students like us can do:
-
Plant trees — they clean the air and give us oxygen.
-
Save water — turn off taps when not in use.
-
Reduce plastic use — carry a cloth bag instead of plastic ones.
-
Recycle and reuse — don’t throw away things that can be used again.
-
Keep your surroundings clean — never litter.
World Environment Day is not just about celebrating for one day. It's a reminder that every day is Earth Day. If each one of us starts caring for nature, we can build a cleaner, greener, and healthier world.
So let’s work together to protect the planet — because we have only one Earth, and it’s our home!
