WORLD MALARIA DAY-Spreading Awareness

23rd April is known as World Malaria Day all over the world. 

But what is malaria?

Malaria is a disease caused by the protozoan called Plasmodium, which is primarily transmitted by the bite of the Female Anopheles mosquito. If the mosquito bites an infected person, the protozoan gets sucked up with the blood.When it bites a healthy person, the protozoan gets injected into the blood causing malaria.

                                       What is the cure for Malaria?

Sir Ronald Ross invented the cure for malaria as Quinine tablets,  for which he won the Nobel Prize in 1902. In modern times, anti-malarial drugs are taken usually before going on planes or any other public modes of transport.

What are the symptoms of malaria?

The symptoms of malaria are-:

Headache ,Fever ,Nausea and vomiting ,Severe chills ,Body pain.

 

How to prevent the spread of malaria?

To prevent the spread of malaria,the following measures can be taken--

1. Do not let water go stagnant in and around your locality-Stagnant water is where mosquitoes usually lay eggs producing more mosquitoes

2. Spray mosquitoe repellent-Spraying mosquitoe repellent helps to kill mosquitoes

3. Put wire mesh on doors and windows- Wire mesh helps to prevent mosquitoes from entering the house

4.Clean water tanks frequently- Water tanks have stagnant water

These basic precautions can help us to prevent malaria from spreading.!!
