On February 14th, the Interact Club took a significant step toward increasing cancer awareness within the school community by organising classroom visits and presentations. This initiative aimed to educate younger students about cancer and encourage participation in the CanSupport Walkathon, an event dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families.
Our technology team created an engaging and informative PowerPoint presentation that was shared with various classes through form tutors. These presentations shed light on the different types of cancer, the struggles patients face, and the importance of early detection and support. The objective was to ensure that students not only learned about the disease but also understood the role they could play in making a difference.
At the end of the presentation in each class, Interact Club members stepped in to personally speak about the CanSupport Walkathon. They highlighted how participation in the event could contribute to the cause, whether through walking, spreading awareness, or showing solidarity with those battling cancer.
Many people recognise cancer as a life-threatening disease, but only a few truly comprehend the extent of its impact. Through this initiative, we aimed to bridge that gap by sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging action.
By the end of the day, the classroom visits proved to be a success, leaving students informed, inspired, and eager to support the CanSupport Walkathon. With increased awareness and participation, the Interact Club hopes to continue making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
