The national capital of Delhi has been experiencing intense climatic phenomena in these past few years. In the year 2024, Delhi reported 13 deaths as a result of floods and heavy rains. The city also clocked a heat wave death toll of 275 the same year. Slum communities are the most vulnerable to these shifts in extreme weather events.
Through project CPSC, the objective is to sensitise climate vulnerable community leaders to prepare their community for responding to accelerated climate change events while also empowering them to demand solutions from the local government. I would further guide them in maximizing and leveraging the opportunity of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi scheduled for early next year. This will result in presenting the voices of the community to the local decision makers.
My deliverables include workshops with these communities.
I just completed my first session with the kids of the Slum Communities in Rangpuri Pahadi, making them aware of the causes and impacts of climate change.
