In 1907, the French artist Émile Cohl started his filmmaking career with Japon de faintasie, with imaginative use of stop motion techniques. His next short can be regarded as the first animated film using what would come to be known as traditional animation methods: the 1908 Fantasmagorie.On 28th October every year, the world celebrates International Animation Day to honour the power of animation to unite and inspire. The day was established by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) in 2002 to illustrate the impact of animation on entertainment and education.
