The Pathways School Noida Interact Club organized and initiated a volunteering trip to the Wildlife SOS organization in Mathura. This organization is renowned for rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife animals, particularly elephants that have been mistreated or kept in captivity. The primary objective of our visit was to contribute to the welfare of these rescued elephants while also engaging in sustainable efforts to support other animals housed at the centre. Additionally, this activity was our kick-start to the newly selected interact club. The activities we engaged and volunteered in were;
We worked alongside the dedicated Wildlife SOS team to support their efforts in providing proper care for rescued elephants. These elephants, often former victims of abuse, neglect, or harsh captivity in religious places like temples and often at tourist destinations, are now in a safe and nurturing environment. As Rotarians, we assisted with feeding the elephants, cleaning their enclosures and surrounding areas and participated in educational sessions about elephant behaviour, the rescue process, and the ongoing challenges of illegal captivity and poaching.
Lastly, the interact club donated a sum of 1 lakh rupees to Wildlife SOS from its previously collected funds. This monetary contribution will go towards the ongoing care and rehabilitation efforts, as well as towards improving facilities/
