This news did not take long to reach Amulius and as soon as he heard this, he ordered his servants to kidnap the twin babies and drown them in the river Tiber. It was a dark night , when the servants of Amulius reached the twins , who were peacefully asleep. They picked the babies up and put them in a basket. Slowly and stealthily, they carried the basket with the twins to the river Tiber and tossed  it into the water. Upon the completion of their assignment, they rushed back to Amulius to give him the good news. Cruel Amulius was both happy and relieved to hear that the twins had been drowned
