Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a major player in air pollution, and it’s something we should definitely pay attention to. This reddish-brown gas mainly comes from vehicle emissions and industrial processes. When inhaled, nitrogen dioxide can irritate our lungs and lower our ability to fight off respiratory infections. It’s especially concerning for kids and people with asthma. Besides health impacts, NO2 also contributes to the formation of smog and acid rain, which can harm ecosystems. To help reduce nitrogen dioxide levels, we can carpool, use public transport, or even walk or bike when possible. Supporting policies for cleaner vehicles and stricter emissions standards also makes a difference. By raising awareness about nitrogen dioxide and its effects, we can work together to improve air quality and protect our health. Every action counts in the fight against air pollution!
