Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, CSOs, the media, the public, even youth. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all, leaving no one behind. The theme for 2024 is the Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future. It marks the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) by the United Nations (UN) on 16th October, 1945. The origins of World Food Day trace back to its establishment in 1945 by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In 1979, during the 20th FAO conference, the day gained official recognition as a global holiday, with 150 countries subsequently adopting the celebration.
