We celebrated Gandhi Jayanti yesterday. He was born on 2nd October 1869. Mahtma Gandhi a man, who used his moral authority rather than political power, managed to influence the nation when there were only radio, letters, words of mouth and newspapers as modes of communication. He proved that influence is not about the platform, but the power of ideas. He led several marches and movement such as Salt March or Dandi March, Swadeshi Movement and Quit India Movement. The Dandi March or Salt March saw massive participation from

'the youth. Gandhi gave them a sense of ownership and responsibilty in the movement. In the Swadeshi Movement he asked the public to use indian goods instead of foreign goods. During the Non-cooperation and the Quit India Movement, Gandhi urged youngsters to boycott British schools and colleges. Many students took part in protests, becoming politically consious at a young age. Gandhiwas aware of importance of youth in shaping the future of the nation, and he worked to inspire and moblise them in the struggle for independence. He was  assassinated by Nathuram Godse on 30th January 1948. Today he is inspiring millions.

Thank You!
