After listening the word food security a question rise in our mind that what is food security?

Food security is defined when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.

Food security is a very important determinant of whether people can lead an active and healthy life, because it determines their access to foods required to meet nutrient needs. Food security is important for many reason like health, economic stability, poverty reduction, trade opportunity, global security, empowerment of women, and job creation etc.

There are many ways to improve food security like food preservation, crop diversification, food sovereignty, fair trading practice, not wasting food, give food to the needy peoples,SNAP and WIC and Diversifying protein sources etc.

Just like we have advantages of improving food security we also have disadvantages of not improving food security.Food insecurity can have many disadvantages, including: 

 Health: Food insecurity can lead to an increased risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Children who experience food insecurity are at a higher risk of developing chronic diseases later in life. 

 Poverty: Food insecurity can lead to increased poverty because people have less money to spend on other things like health and education. 

 Education: Children may not be able to attend school, repeat years of schooling, or perform worse in school. 

 Mental health: Food insecurity can lead to mental health disorders. 

 Stunted growth: Chronic hunger and malnutrition in childhood can lead to stunted growth. 

 Cognitive development: Severe malnutrition in early childhood can lead to defects in cognitive development. 

Civil unrest: Food insecurity can lead to civil unrest. 

Environmental impacts: Food insecurity can lead to soil erosion and water pollution. 

Food security is the availability of safe and nutritious food for everyone, at all times, and the ability to access it. The conclusion of food security is that it is achieved when everyone has access to enough food to meet their dietary needs and preferences for an active and healthy life.
