What is International Moon Day?
International Moon day is celebrated on July 20th and was monumentalized by the United Nation for being the first day a man stepped foot on the Moon. It is a day that people from all around the world switched their TVs on for. Neil Armstrong, the first astronaut, American and person to set foot on the Moon, described his experience as "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". Armstrong and his team made the incredible journey in 1996 in Apollo 11 nearly 28 years ago, and it has been remembered by all ever since.
How is it celebrated?
