● What is Global Wind Day?
Global Wind Day, also known as World Wind Day is celebrated on June 15th every
year with the first time being in 1967. The event is organised by WindEurope the
Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). On this day, people spread awareness about
wind energy and how it has helped the environment as a whole.
● But, why wind?
Wind energy has improved through advances in turbine technology, increasing
efficiency and lowering costs. It's crucial for sustainability because its a clean, renewable resource that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and decreases dependence on fossil fuels, contributing to combating climate change and
