SDG 3
• Aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for everyone. It was started in September 2025. Good health is essential for economic development, as it helps in reducing poverty and promoting inclusive growth.
• 23% of deaths are caused by environmental factors, 90% of the world population breath unhealthy air, 235 million people currently suffer from Asthama, 39% of adults are overweight. These are some alarming facts which need attention.
• There is a bold commitment to end the epidemics of AIDS, TB, malaria and other communicable diseases by 2030.
WHEN WAS IT ESTABLISHED AND WHO WERE THE FOUNDER?
• This SDG 3 was established in the year 2015 by the United Nations (UN). It also stated to ensure healthy lifestyles and to promote the well-being for all ages.
TARGETS OF SDG 3
• There are 17 SDG's and every SDG has it goal, aim, facts and most important they all have atleast 10 to 13 targets.
Target 3.1 - The goal is to reduce maternal mortality and preventable deaths of new-borns and children under five.
Target 3.2 - Prevent and treat communicable and non-communicable diseases, and promote mental health and well-being.
Target 3.3 - The aim is to end the HIV/, TB, and malaria epidemic and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases, and other communicable diseases.
Target 3.4 - Reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases.
Target 3.5 - Prevent substance abuse, including tobacco, alcohol, and drug abuse.
Target 3.6 - Reduce injuries and deaths from road accidents, disasters, and other causes.
Target 3.7 - Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services, including family planning.
Target 3.8 - Achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection and access to essential healthcare services.
Target 3.9 - Reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, and soil pollution and contamination.
Target 3.A - Strengthen the implementation of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
Target 3.B - Support research, development, and universal access to affordable vaccines and medicines.
Target 3.C - Increase health financing and the recruitment, development, training, and retention of the health workforce.
Target 3.D - Strengthen the capacity of all countries, particularly developing countries, for early warning, risk reduction, and management of national and global health risks.
