World Bicycle Day is an international observance recognized by the United Nations (UN). It is celebrated annually on June 3 to promote the benefits of cycling and raise awareness about the importance of bicycles as a sustainable mode of transportation as WHO recognizes cycling as a means of achieving Sustainable Development Goals. It shows various bicyclists riding around the globe which gives out the message that the bicycle belongs to and serves all of humanity. World Bicycle Day is significant because WHO actively promotes cycling for its benefits to health and the environment. Cycling is considered a healthy activity that increases physical
activity and reduces non-communicable diseases.

Why celebrate Bicycle Day?
• The bicycle is a symbol of sustainable transportation, conveys a positive message to foster
sustainable consumption and production, and has a positive impact on climate.
• The bicycle can serve as a tool for development and as a means not just of transportation but
also of access to education, health care, and sport.
• The synergy between the bicycle and the user fosters creativity and social engagement and
gives the user an immediate awareness of the local environment.

There are a variety of event types to make the celebration enjoyable and memorable.
