Climate change is accelerating due to the high consumption of fossil fuels, which release harmful greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. Because most of our electricity still comes from coal, saving energy at home is a direct way to fight global warming.Conserving energy does not require drastic lifestyle changes; it starts with simple daily habits. For instance, switching off lights, fans, and air conditioners when leaving a room immediately cuts down unnecessary electricity use. Unplugging electronic chargers when they are not in use prevents "vampire power" draw, which quietly wastes energy.Another effective step is switching traditional incandescent bulbs to energy-efficient LED lighting. LEDs use up to 80% less energy and last much longer. Additionally, maximizing natural daylight by keeping curtains open during the day reduces the need for artificial lighting.Energy saved is energy generated. If every student makes a conscious effort to turn off just one idle appliance today, we can collectively reduce carbon emissions significantly.
