in the midst of the crowd, flies lingering still -

i find debris dispersed with no after effects, with no remedy, where everything is wrecked.

is this what it has come to?

responsibility remains unchecked.

with no other place to run to, diseases run by on the roads unswept.

recycle, reuse, reduce - submerge in vain, and so do our efforts.

we preach, yet we do not practice.

all those slogans? it makes me wonder whether it was all malice.

even the most minimal step can pave way for a better life.

when will we realise that? when will we assuage this strife?

greenhouse gases, pollution and all the depleted resources in the world only cry for our help, yet we act deaf to their words.

even now, in the race to procure resources like oil, the world has forgotten what it truly stands for - it has lost its essence, it’s humanity and truth.

nobody asked for this morass, but it’s something we’ll endure in this fight, one filled with crass.

when all hope is lost, sustainability acts as an anchor, it holds us down but it is we who must act, who must tie the cord, who must abide by this pact.
