The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected objectives adopted by all 193 United Nations Member States in 2015. They serve as a universal roadmap to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for everyone by 2030. [1, 2, 3, 4]

• Three Pillars: They balance the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainability.

• 169 Targets: Specific, actionable sub-goals.
• 230+ Indicators: Data points used to track global progress.
• Annual Reports: The SDG Progress Report provides yearly assessments of status.

While there has been progress in areas like electricity access and child health, the world is currently off-track: [4, 22]

• Low Success Rate: Only about 15-20% of targets are on track to be met by 2030.
• Major Setbacks: The COVID-19 pandemic, climate disasters, and conflicts have reversed gains in poverty and health.
• Funding Gap: Developing countries face an annual financing gap of approximately $4 trillion.
