Ozone Layer Depletion
The ozone layer is a protective shield in the Earth’s atmosphere that blocks harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Ozone layer depletion occurs due to the release of chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) from refrigerators, air conditioners, and aerosols. When the ozone layer becomes thin, harmful UV rays reach the Earth, causing skin cancer, eye problems, and damage to crops and marine life. To prevent ozone depletion, the use of CFCs must be stopped and ozone-friendly products should be encouraged worldwide.
