Community Service and the Importance of Youth

The youth of a community are the driving force, bringing with them lots of energy and fresh ideas. Community service is important for creating a caring community that will continue to grow and thrive. Community Service is the act of helping others without expectation of reward, some examples would be litter collects, education programs, blood donations, health awareness programs and helping the less fortunate.

Why Youth are Important to Community Service

1. Educating society on social issues, such as health, cleanliness, the environment, and education.

2. Teaching the youth of a community how to be responsible, accountable, empathetic, and civic-minded.

3. Aiding in addressing social problems, such as poverty, pollution, and illiteracy, through projects initiated by energized youth.

4. Developing leadership abilities, including communication skills, teamwork, and leadership skills.

5. Promoting Cooperation and Unity, by encouraging volunteerism amongst youths, which builds a stronger bond within the community.

Examples of How Youth Can Be Involved

1. Cleaning up litter in schools, down the street, in a park.

2. Running health, sanitation, and hygiene campaigns.

3. Tutoring kids who are underprivileged, and/or tutoring kids with school assignments.

4. Participating in tree planting, and in environmental conservation programs.

5. Helping elderly people or disabled individuals with their day to day living.
