Captain Vikram Batra: The "Sher Shah" of Kargil
Captain Vikram Batra was a legendary Indian Army officer who posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honor, for his extraordinary gallantry during the 1999 Kargil War.
Known by his code name "Sher Shah," Batra led daring assaults to recapture strategic peaks like Point 5140 and Point 4875. His iconic victory signal, "Yeh Dil Maange More!", and his promise to either hoist the Tricolour or return wrapped in it, made him a national symbol of bravery. He made the supreme sacrifice on July 7, 1999, while rescuing a fellow soldier under heavy enemy fire.
