My role model is Anandi Gopal Joshi, the first woman doctor of India and a true symbol of courage and determination. She inspires me because she achieved something extraordinary at a time when girls were not even allowed to go to school. Born in 1865, Anandi faced many challenges, including early marriage, poor health, and strong social opposition. But she never gave up on her dream of becoming a doctor.
What motivates me most is her purpose behind becoming a doctor. She wanted to help other women who suffered because there were no female doctors. With great courage, she travelled all the way to the United States to study medicine, something extremely rare for women in those days. At the young age of 19, she completed her medical degree and returned to India with the hope of serving society.
Her life teaches me that determination can overcome even the toughest obstacles. She shows that education and hard work can change a person’s future. Whenever I feel discouraged, I remember how bravely she fought against social restrictions.
Anandi Gopal Joshi’s achievements inspire me to believe in myself, work sincerely, and never give up on my dreams. She will always remain a guiding light in my life.
