Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is about to get even cooler — a yellow anaconda and an iguana are on their way! 🐍🦎
This comes right after a big animal swap in November 2024 with Shivamogga Zoological Park in Karnataka. The zoo recently welcomed three hyenas, two jackals, two marsh crocs, and two palm civets as part of the exchange. In return, Thiruvananthapuram sent over four rheas, six sun conures, two gharials, one hyena, and two Indian crested porcupines.
The new hyenas were brought in to boost the gene pool for the species already living at the zoo — basically, a little biodiversity upgrade. Right now, all the new arrivals are chilling in a 21-day quarantine before they make their big debut for visitors.
Once they’re settled, the zoo’s lineup is going to be seriously stacked — with the anaconda and iguana adding even more vibe to the mix. 🌿🐾
