Food is the basic need of life, but eating anything and everything is not enough for good health. Our body requires a balanced diet which means having all the necessary nutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water in the right proportion. A balanced diet helps in proper growth, development, and energy. For example, carbohydrates give energy, proteins help in building muscles, vitamins and minerals keep us safe from diseases, while water keeps the body hydrated. If a person eats only junk food or only one type of food, the body will not get all the nutrients and may suffer from weakness or illness. A balanced diet also improves concentration, immunity, and fitness. Children especially need it for proper physical and mental growth. Therefore, everyone should include cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables, milk, and nuts in their meals. Truly, a balanced diet is the key to a healthy and happy life.
