SDG 13, commonly known as “Climate Action”, calls for urgent steps to address climate change and minimize its effects around the world. Its focus extends beyond just reducing emissions, it aims to strengthen resilience to climate disasters, integrate climate considerations into policies and improve education and readiness for climate mitigation and adaptation at every level. Recent academic analysis notes that climate change increasingly shapes global challenges, impacting sectors as diverse as health, water and livelihoods through extreme weather, rising seas, and shifting weather patterns. Efforts under SDG 13 emphasize building disaster management skills, promoting international cooperation and developing effective strategies to adapt to, and lessen, the threats posed by a changing climate, all while fostering innovation and the informed, adaptive capacity of communities and institutions worldwide.
