A rainbow is a beautiful arc of colors that appears in the sky when sunlight shines through tiny raindrops. The light bends and splits into seven colors – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. This is why we see so many bright shades together. Rainbows usually appear after rain, when the sun is behind you and the raindrops are in front. Sometimes, you may even see two rainbows at once, with the second one lighter and with its colors reversed. A rainbow is actually a full circle, but we can only see part of it from the ground. People all over the world think of rainbows as magical and special, often calling them a sign of hope and happiness. π
