Water is one of the most important natural resources on Earth. Every living being – humans, animals, and plants – needs water to survive. About 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water, but most of it is salty and not fit for drinking. Only a small amount of freshwater is available for our use and Water keeps our body healthy and helps in digestion.

Why is water important?.

  1. For agriculture – Farmers need water to grow crops, fruits, and vegetables.
  2. For animals and plants – All living creatures need water to live and grow.
  3. For cleanliness – We use water for bathing, washing, and cleaning.
  4. For industries – Factories use water to make goods like clothes, paper, and medicines.

Sources of water

  • Rain – The main source of freshwater.
  • Rivers and lakes – Provide water for drinking, farming, and electricity.
  • Groundwater – Found under the soil and drawn through wells and handpumps.
  • Oceans and seas – Contain salty water, used mainly for transport and fishing.

         Conserving water

Freshwater is limited, so we must use it wisely. Small steps like turning off taps, fixing leaks, collecting rainwater, and avoiding wastage can save a lot of water.

✨ In short: Water is life. Without it, there can be no plants, no animals, and no humans. That is why we must protect and conserve this precious gift of nature.
