SDG backed programs can stimulate experiential learning in students and raise environmental conscious global citizens
“People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously .This is how character is built.”
ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
This quote emphasises a very relevant point which is that, reflecting on experiences build one’s character.
Do you wonder if the objective of the school is to impart education or life experiences? How else can we experience life in its complete honesty?
All the young minds we teach at a regular basis are the future generations touched by our morality.
What is Morality? Isn’t caring for the planet -The one? We leave the earth to our children , in it’s pristine womb ,green and clean : rays of hope penetrating through the barks of denseness.
In an attempt to accomplish this task Delhi Public school -Varanasi,Nashik and Nagpur collaborated with 20 different countries and 30 different schools under the SDGs2Savethe world collaborative Cohort projects.
It was heartening to see the students work on SDG-04, 3,5,7,11,16,12 for months to arrive to a workable solution. Each country shared the problems facing their education system and how they can help eradicate them
.All hindrances were identified ,detected and made palpable. The end result was enlightening and humbling for the students as they realised the responsibility they have to shoulder once they grow up.
The rays of hope penetrating through the barks of denseness could see the light of the day ,isn’t it!!! All it takes is a group of like minded individuals in a break out room brainstorming with all honesty.
As we embark to SDG2Savetheworld Cohort 9 International project I have a feeling that many will join and plot the way to have a more sustainable world.A world where each one of us know that time is running out and we are losing the balance of the ecosystem every minute.
As we unite for the project the students will experience the tilt of the earth before the collapse and how much it is necessary and urgent to hold it upright for the cause of humanity.
Let’s celebrate the dedication of our children to the SDGs and give them a better world.
Let’s not lose sight of the totem pole!
We owe them ,don’t we?
