When I was little, I thought Raksha Bandhan was just about tying a pretty thread called a rakhi on my brother’s hand and getting gifts from him. I used to be so excited only for the gifts!
But as I grew older, I understood that Raksha Bandhan is not only about rakhis and presents. It’s about love and care between brothers and sisters. The word “raksha” means protection, so we sisters tie the rakhi to wish for our brothers to always be safe and healthy.
For me, gifts are not that important anymore. I feel they are just a way for brothers to make their sisters happy and to thank them for thinking about their protection.
In the end, Raksha Bandhan is all about the special bond we share. The picture above shows how I celebrated this Raksha Bandhan with my cute little brother.
Happy Raksha Bandhan:)
