🌊 World Ocean Day – Celebrated on 8th June
World Ocean Day is observed every year on 8th June to raise awareness about the importance of oceans in our lives and the need to protect them. Oceans cover more than 70% of our planet and are home to millions of species. They provide us with oxygen, food, transportation routes, and even help regulate the Earth’s climate.
The day is a reminder that our oceans are facing serious threats such as pollution, overfishing, plastic waste, and climate change. Human activities are harming marine life and disturbing the balance of ocean ecosystems. If we do not act now, the health of our oceans—and our own future—will be at risk.
On World Ocean Day, schools, organizations, and communities around the world organize activities such as beach clean-ups, awareness campaigns, art competitions, and educational programs. People are encouraged to reduce plastic use, recycle waste, and support sustainable fishing practices.
The theme changes each year to highlight different aspects of ocean conservation, but the message remains the same: we must work together to keep our oceans healthy for future generations.
