Every year on February 10, the world celebrates World Pulses Day, a day to learn about the importance of pulses like lentils, chickpeas, beans, and peas. These foods are not only healthy and full of protein, but they are also good for the planet. They need less water to grow, help keep the soil strong, and are great for both people and the environment.
At GoSharpener, we believe food can be a powerful way to care for the Earth. On this day, we encourage students to think about what they eat and how it affects nature.
Linked to SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption, this day helps young people explore how small food choices can lead to big climate solutions. With GoSharpener, students learn that even something as simple as choosing plant-based food can support farmers, health, and the planet.
GoSharpener’s Pulse Day Activity
To celebrate World Pulses Day, GoSharpener invited students to take part in fun and creative activities through our February SDG Toolkit.
Students made their own “pulse plates” with favorite recipes using lentils and beans, planted seeds in jars to watch them grow, and designed posters about why pulses are good for health and the Earth. Some schools even had tasting sessions, quizzes, or cooking demos with local dishes.
All these actions were added to each student’s Impact Profile, helping them earn GoPoints and grow their Food & Climate Score. These were not just school tasks; they were real-life learning moments.
Through this activity, students started asking important questions: Where does our food come from? How is it grown? Is it good for the planet?
With GoSharpener, students saw that what we eat every day can support farmers, protect nature, and build a healthier future.
Why GoSharpener Is Different
At GoSharpener, we do things differently. We don’t just talk about important days like World Pulses Day; we help students take real action and make a difference.
When students take part in activities like planting seeds or cooking with pulses, they log it in their Impact Profiles. They earn GoPoints, build their Green Score, and see their efforts counted. These actions also connect to SDG 2 and SDG 12, showing how students are helping both people and the planet.
GoSharpener gives students a chance to learn by doing. Whether it's learning about healthy eating or understanding where food comes from, our platform helps them make smart, sustainable choices.
We help students become climate-smart food heroes not just for one day, but every day. Because even small things, like a lentil dish or planting a seed, can lead to big change when students take action together.
